It Was Fun While It Lasted!

It is with mixed emotions that I announce Somerville police chief Anthony Holloway is taking the top job in Clearwater, Florida, two years into his five-year contract. Clearwater officials named Holloway their new chief of police Monday. For those of you playing at home, the chief actually spent 21 years on the force in Clearwater before taking the position here in Somerville.

In just a short amount of time, Chief Holloway implemented some of the most progressive tactics to keep Somerville safer including sub-stations planted around the city, a ward appointed police officer and the removal of the bidding system that determined where in Somerville a police officer would spend their shift.

I wish Chief Holloway the best of luck in his new endeavor and only hope that his changes remain in effect even after a new chief is hired...and I'm not afraid to publicize it!
