...and Gannon Makes Four!

City Solicitor, John Gannon, provided Mayor Joe Curtatone with the below letter of resignation effective today. For those of you playing at home, this is the fourth significant person to jump ship.

Dear Joe,
I am writing to submit my resignation as City Solicitor for the City of Somerville, effective March 19, 2010. Holding the position of City Solicitor has been professionally rewarding and the culmination of over twenty years of public and private law practice representing municipalities and other governmental entities. I have appreciated the opportunity to represent the City’s legal interests. In my service, I have particularly enjoyed playing a role in a number of issues that make this City a dynamic, urban municipality, including development at Assembly Square, the expansion of the Green Line and ensuring quality of life issues across the City. Somerville is truly an All-America City.

I now have a wonderful opportunity to return to private legal practice and to reach a new set of career goals. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to work with you and a highly professional team. I have realized my goal of developing the best municipal law department in the Commonwealth, and I am proud of my team’s achievements. My practice will consist in part of municipal legal matters, so please feel free to call me at anytime with any questions you may have.

Thank you again for this opportunity to serve as your City Solicitor.
Very truly yours,

John G. Gannon

Holloway was expected to go, the other three that is a different story Is there a State or Federal investigation of the Curtatone administration?

I agree about Holloway as his wife was/is still practicing law in Florida and, when the opportunity presented itself, it was a no-brainer for him.

I don't know of any investigation, however, their timing does throw some suspicion that they know things we don't.

At the least, Curtatone may be thinking of aiming higher when election 2011 comes around (my money is on this one).

At the worst, there's an investigation and the crew is jumping so only the captain goes down with the ship.

Your guess is as good as mine.
