Deval Patrick Declares Today "Somerville All America City Day."

The City of Somerville was named an All America City in July 2009 by the National Civic League. The All America City Award is America’s original community recognition award, honoring communities of all sizes where community members, government, businesses and nonprofit organizations work together to address critical local issues.

For this achievement, Massachusetts Governor Deval L. Patrick has declared Monday, March 8, to be “Somerville All America City Day,” and will visit the City of Somerville on Monday, March 8, for a ceremony in honor of the City’s All America City status, and to discuss the importance of civic engagement with Somerville High School students. “All America City Day” will also honor the City’s recent national recognition for Shape Up Somerville, the USDA’s Healthier U.S. Schools Challenge, and innovative development projects.
