Campaign sets meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 4 at 6:00 PM to plan next steps to win jobs at MaxPac

Somerville, Mass. – Union members and community activists concerned about jobs at the future MaxPac development on Clyde Street will gather for a planning meeting on January 4, 2011 at 6:00 PM at the Visiting Nurses Association, 259 Lowell Street, Community Room, 3rd Floor, in Somerville.

The meeting is open to anyone interested in helping to win a commitment from the developers -- KSS Realty Partners -- to hire local people and use union labor.

On the agenda will be the upcoming Planning Board meeting on Thursday, January 6 and a proposed hearing by the Board of Alderman on the Covenant signed between the City of Somerville and the MaxPac developers.

Any reason why they are going to demonstrate at the VNA?

I am pretty sure the Planning Board always meets at City Hall unless the rooms are already booked like they were during the last meeting. From what I understood, they only reason they were at the VNA last time was because City Hall wasn't available.

Someone better verify this, otherwise the unions may be demonstrating in front of nobody.

This isn't a demonstration. It is a strategy meeting to plan out the next steps of their campaign to win jobs at Max Pac.
