Community Planning Meeting For Greenline Extension to Mystic Valley Parkway/Route 16 Scheduled!

MassDOT and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) are pleased to announce the launch of a community planning process to gather input on the benefits and impacts of extending the Green Line to Mystic Valley Parkway/Route 16. This initiative will also study land use issues and the potential for transit-oriented developments in the area.

The study is funded by MassDOT, which will be actively involved in the process along with the MBTA and the cities of Medford and Somerville. The first in a series of public meetings is scheduled for Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 6PM to 8PM at the Brooks Elementary School, 288 High Street in Medford. Come to learn more and make your voice heard.
As always, if you have any questions on the project, you can email Kate Fichter, Project Manager, at katherine.fichter@state.ma.us.

This meeting should be interesting, but I'm curious why they're having this meeting when the Route 16 Green Line stop isn't included in Phase 1 of the plan, slated to be done in late 2015.

All I've heard is that "Phase 2" of the Green Line extension will come at a later date. I'm highly skeptical that the MBTA will follow through on this.
