Possible Water Discoloration

Due to an MWRA watermain incident today in the Boston area, the MWRA needs to perform a flow reversal. This may cause discoloration in Somerville's water, especially in the Walnut Street area. Though the water is safe to drink, run the water until clear and avoid washing clothes, especially white fabrics. If any rust stains appear on the wet laundry, the clothes should not be dried, and you may contact the water department during normal business hours to receive a free bottle of rust remover.
