Rally for Somerville Jobs -- Again! (Jan 6, 5:30 PM)

Thursday, January 6 • 5:30pm - 7:30pm
Planning Board Hearing, Somerville City Hall
93 Highland Ave, Somerville, MA

At the December 16 meeting, the Planning Board tabled its decision on the design changes sought by the Max Pac developers: KSS Realty Partners and Gate Residential.

The delay was a victory, but the developers are still refusing to live up to the commitment they made to the City of Somerville to sign a project labor agreement (PLA). A PLA is the only way to make sure that Somerville residents are hired to do the work and that it is done safely and fairly.

We are asking the Planning Board to table its decision on the design changes until after a special hearing by the Board of Alderman on the Covenant language for union jobs that KSS Realty signed with the City of Somerville and the need for local residents to get jobs at MaxPac.

Somerville can not afford to lose this opportunity to employ local trades people who desperately need jobs in our community. We need to make sure our voices for union jobs and hiring Somerville residents is heard again. Please attend this rally immediately before the Planning Board Hearing on Thursday night at Somerville City Hall.
