Coming up the week of February 28 in the Somerville Schools...





• 2/26 from 4:00-6:00 PM, fundraiser at Johnny D’s for the Somerville High School Music Program.

• 2/28 from 6:30-8:00 PM at the Kennedy School, “Making Peace with Autism,” a free workshop for families of students in the Somerville Public Schools.

• Early childhood playgroups start this week – with a variety of opportunities for parents and children including inclusive playgroups, playgroups for Arabic speakers, and playgroups for Latino families. Visit www.somerville.k12.ma.us/playgroups to learn more.

• 3/2 – Read Across America Day/Dr. Seuss’ Birthday – we’re celebrating in elementary schools across the City on Wednesday through Friday. Breakfast on Wednesday will feature Green Eggs and Ham, and schools will hosts special reading events and other activities honoring Dr. Seuss.

• 3/2 – ELEMENTARY HALF-DAY WEDNESDAY

• 3/3 – We’re proud to welcome Project Bread to the Capuano Center at 8:00 in the morning. Project Bread is honoring Somerville for its achievement in the Better Breakfast Initiative program.

• 3/3 – Somerville High School Science Fair – all day

• 3/3 – High School Students wanting to participate in Spring sports are required to turn in their sports paperwork to Ms.Viele on Thursday afterschool. Learn more about spring sports at www.somerville.k12.ma.us/athletics.

• 3/4 - Deadline for more than 50 college scholarships available through the Somerville High School Scholarship Foundation. Visit www.somerville.k12.ma.us/collegeplan to download a scholarship directory and the common application form.

• 3/5 from 10:00-12:00 PM – Watch maple syrup being made at the Community Growing Center on Vinal Avenue at the annual Maple Syrup Boil Down festival!

• 3/5 from 12:00-4:00 PM – Elementary swim meet at the Kennedy Pool. All students are encouraged to register for free and swim for their school.
