Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone announced that the City’s annual Shape Up Somerville / Somerville Recreation Road Race will be held on Sunday, April 10th

Race Includes Childrens’ “Fun Run,” Adult Race & Walk; Refreshments, BBQ to be Held Following Races.
 SOMERVILLE – Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone announced that the City’s annual Shape Up Somerville / Somerville Recreation Road Race will be held on Sunday, April 10th starting from the Somerville High School concourse. The day will begin with a 1-mile childrens’ “Fun Run” at 10:00 a.m., a 2.7-mile walk to kickoff at 10:30 a.m., and a 2.7-mile adult race at 11:00 a.m. Registration is open to all community members at a price of $5 for youth under age 10 and $20 for adults. Price includes a commemorative t-shirt, water and a banana at the finish line. A free BBQ will be held for any interested runners at the VFW Post #19, located across the street from the finish line at 124 Highland Avenue.

Top male and female finishers in each category will receive awards. Registration forms can be found on the City’s website, at the Welcome Desk at City Hall, or at the Recreation Building at 19 Walnut Street. Checks should be made payable to Somerville Youth and Recreation Foundation, and can be mailed or delivered to Somerville Recreation, 19 Walnut Street, Somerville, MA 02143.
