International flavors will shine at “YUM: A Taste of Immigrant City” fundraiser!

Somerville, MA – Hungry for something different? Then check out YUM: A Taste of Immigrant City. A fundraiser for the Somerville-based The Welcome Project, YUM will feature an array of culinary delights to tickle the taste buds and delight the senses.

Set for Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Center for Arts at the Armory, the 2011 YUM: A Taste of Immigrant City celebration will feature music, drinks and international tastes from around the region.

“For one night only, some of the best ethnic restaurants in the area will be under one roof offering tastes of our local, global community,” said Warren Goldstein-Gelb, director of The Welcome Project. “YUM is a rare opportunity to try out new restaurants and cuisine while supporting the diverse populations that make our community great.”

In a city known for its vibrant ethnic restaurants, YUM seeks to promote these locally-owned businesses which drive the economy and serve as important cultural centers for the city’s diverse immigrant populations. Proceeds from the evening will go to support The Welcome Project’s work strengthening civic and community life by diminishing racism and empowering the city's refugee and immigrant groups.

Individuals interested in purchasing tickets to the 2011 YUM: A Taste of Immigrant City celebration can do so by visiting www.yumsomerville.org.
