Porter Square Visioning Process Meeting This Monday!

The Mayor’s Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development (OSPCD) will hold a community meeting on Monday, April 11, at 6:30 P.M., at the Kennedy Elementary School cafeteria, 5 Cherry St., to follow up on the implementation of the Porter Square Visioning Process.

The Porter Square Visioning Process began in May 2009, producing a draft vision statement based on constituent feedback. Using this input, the City will implement an open and inclusive study process to determine future zoning changes for key gateways in the vicinity of Porter Square.


The study process will feature approximately two additional community meetings in the coming months. This second meeting in the ‘series’ will address questions raised in previous meetings related to the Porter Square Vision Statement. The concepts of "safe and pedestrian oriented streets," "mixed use development," "signature buildings," and "gateways" will be revisited and discussed in a dynamic and interactive planning exercise, where participants will be able to identify and map out plans for the future of the neighborhood. Additional meetings will identify existing challenges, current and future zoning that would allow for neighborhood revitalization.
