Porter Square Visioning Process

The Mayor’s Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development will hold a third community meeting on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 6:30pm, at the John F. Kennedy Elementary School Cafeteria, 5 Cherry Street, to gather consensus around the potential mixed-use development in key gateways of the Porter Square area.

The Porter Square Visioning Process began in May 2009, producing a draft vision statement based on constituent feedback. Using this input, the City is conducting an open and inclusive study process to determine future zoning changes for key gateways such as Wilson Square, Somerville Avenue, the MBTA Air Rights, White Street, Elm Street, and Mossland Street in the Porter Square area.

This third meeting in the Visioning Series will focus on gathering consensus on the potential characteristics of mixed-use development in the area based on visual data collected from the community meeting on April 11th. Concepts such as architectural design, height, uses, setbacks, dimensional configuration, and parking will be discussed for each of the key gateway.
