"Wicked Cool for Kids" Summer Programs Being Offered At The Armory!

It's not too late to plan great learning experiences for your children this summer. Arts at the Armory will present a number of week-long educational programs for kids, including:


Wacky Lab Week -- 7/18/11-7/22/11, (Mon-Fri, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.)
Using kitchen chemistry, kids will discover neat color-changing tricks using acids and bases. Kids will experiment with buoyancy as they build cool Cartesian divers, and they'll unlock the secret formulas and create their own cool science toys to take home. Grades 1-5.

Rocket Science -- 7/25/11-7/29/11, (Mon-Fri, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.)
Kids will learn about the science of flight, and investigate how things fly. We'll travel across the solar system and learn about the rocky planets and the gas giants. We'll make friends with Newton's laws of motion and learn why what goes up must come down. Grades 1-5.

Engineering & Electricity-- 8/1/11-8/5/11, (Mon-Fri, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.)
We'll use our knowledge of motors and circuits to construct our own "Bristle Bots" and send them to battle. Each day we'll build new projects using the Snap Circuits System, where kids can easily configure how to construct sound activated switches, learn about LED's, and make a flying saucer. Electrifying! Grades 1-5.

Wicked Amazing Art-- 8/15/11-8/19/11, (Mon-Fri, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.)
A truly engaging art program with imaginative projects that help kids develop their creative streak. We'll use different media from collages, watercolors, and wax resist, to printing and sculpture. Lots of new activities for the artistic side of your kid. Grades 1-5.
