The Word Around The Ward...

A huge welcome to Alderman At Large, Bill White, on relocating his law practice to Magoun Square. It's well-known that Bill is one of the smartest members of the Board of Alderman and this just proves it!

Speaking of the Board of Alderman, well wishes and good thoughts go out to Ward 3 Alderman/Vice President of the Board, Tom Taylor, who is now entering the rehabilitation phase of his post-surgery journey. I certainly miss him and can't wait to see him up at City Hall again.

As everyone knows, Somerville will be entering the Group Insurance Commission as voted by the Board last week. This is just in time for the September 1st date that Mayor Joe Curtatone wanted for a January 1, 2012 implementation date. Next on the agenda, are numerous conversations with union and retiree representatives.

Have any ideas for the new Environmental Page on the website? I put the single-stream recycling data up there for now, but am open to ideas or suggestions. Email or comment them below! Also, if you can't find something due to the reorganization of the site, email me and I'll let you know where I put it ;)

I would like to thank everyone for their wonderful birthday wishes from yesterday! It was a nice combination of: "Happy Birthday" or "Wow, you're 31?!" and "Thanks for doing the website." I really appreciate the emails, Facebook wall posts and Twitter messages as they made me feel like a princess for the day.

Ward 5 resident, Ben Bradley, will be hosting a fundraiser at Flatbread's -45 Day Street- along with other riders as they raise funds by riding the Pan Mass Challenge. Be sure to donate through his page or stop by Flatbread's on 8/23/11 from 11:30am-11:30pm.

They're baaaack! Both the School Committee and the Board of Alderman have meetings scheduled in late August and early September. Check out the Meeting Portal RSS Feed on the website for meeting information. Click on the meeting title to see agendas, meeting minutes (when they're posted), and videos.

See Someone? Hear Something? Let me know!
