Finance Committee To Meet on October 5th



The committee on Finance will meet on October 5th, 2011 at 7pm in the second floor committee room of City Hall to discuss agenda items submitted by members of the Board of Alderman and appropriation requests made by the Mayor.

The agenda is pretty heavy in bonding different expenses around the city, but does include approvals for a couple of grants and a discussion for the now $5 million over-budget East Somerville Community School.

The following agenda items will be discussed:
·Update on the reconstruction of the East Somerville Community School
· 191958: Recommend Requesting approval for the Personnel Dept. to use FY 2012 funds to pay FY 2011 invoices totalling $7,133.
· 191982: Recommend Communicating to this Board regarding a Capital Projects planning update.
· 192006: Recommend Requesting an appropriation of $100,000 and authorization to borrow the same amount in a bond for various repairs to municipal buildings.
· 192007: Recommend Requesting an appropriation of $55,000 and authorization to borrow the same amount in a bond to replace the apron at the Fire Dept. Headquarters.
· 192008: Recommend Requesting an appropriation of $50,000 and authorization to borrow the same amount in a bond to repair the Dept. of Public Works roof.
· 192009: Recommend Requesting an appropriation of $50,000 from the Capital Projects Stabilization Fund for private way reconstruction work.
· 192010: Recommend Requesting an appropriation of $25,000 from the Capital Projects Stabilization Fund to fund the purchase of street benches and barrels.
· 192011: Recommend Request to pay prior year invoices in the Department of Public Works from the FY12 appropriation, totalling $11,031.75.
· 192012: Recommend Requesting acceptance of a grant of $31,809 from the Office of Justice Programs FY11 Byrne JAG Grant for the use of the Police Dept.
· 192013: Recommend Requesting the acceptance of an overtime reimbursement from Federal Realty to cover Police expenses associated with the Riverfest Fireworks event on September 17, 2011.
· 192014: Recommend Requesting approval of an $800 grant from the MetLife Foundation to support the Arts Council’s Art in a Garden program.
