I have good news and I have bad news, which one do you want to hear first? Ok, the bad news is that Communications Director, Mike Meehan, is leaving his position at City Hall. The good news is that the "golden voice" of Somerville, Tom Champion (yes, that Tom Champion) is coming back to his old stomping ground after leaving last year to take a job in the privot sector.
I found the announcement of Meehan's leaving to be bad news because I appreciated his willingness to jump into the shark-filled waters of the Somerville online news scene and comment among us. This bridged the gap, somewhat, between what was happening at City Hall and what residents were hearing on the street or reading on the websites.
I know Tom has commented before, but not with the same consistency as Mike. Maybe that will change?
Nonetheless, the revolving door as City Hall continues to spin as we've seen so many leave for new adventures including a Director of the Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development, a police chief, a human resources director and a city solicitor just to name a few.
