Word Around the Ward

The candidates for Alderman at Large are starting to make the rounds, hold standouts and even pop up on the social media circuit. Recently, Ward 5 Online's twitter feed got a new follower in Todd Easton who has been hitting the door knocking scene. Seemed he rattled a few cages when he walked Ten Hills-home to 2 current Aldermen at Large, Dennis Sullivan and Bill White. Michael Nionakis held a stand-out in Magoun Square recently, placing people in front of the Dunkin Donuts and up Broadway, as well as, Teele Square during the Somerville Homeless Coalition 5K.

Speaking of the SHC 5K, many Ward 5ers (including me) were out pounding the pavement for the great cause on Saturday October 1st. I spied Sara Sugars, Ben Bradley, and Dana LeWinter. Did you run? Comment your name below!

The Green Line got some, well, green recently in the form of almost $500K over the next few years for the project. Starting with $66.2 million in funding for fiscal year 2012, funding increases the following years to $79.3 million in 2013, $94 million in 2014 and $235.8 million in 2015.

Measurements of the Lowell Street bridge and the beginning of garage construction is the latest from the Residences at Maxwell's Green. Construction is moving along, and listings are already published for the completed townhouses.
Speaking of Maxwell's Green, main players: Charles Aggouras, Daniel DiPierro, and James Zegowitz have been seen numerous times at different Magoun Square establishments enjoying food, spirits, and whatever sports team is on that night. Nice to see developers put their money back into the community they are building in.

Lil' Vinny's is getting a pretty decent lunch crowd now that they've started serving from 11am until 2pm! Do stop by for some amazing food the next time you're in Magoun Square!
