Environment and Energy Special Committee Holds First 2012 Meeting

The Environment and Energy Special Committee will hold its first meeting in 2012 on February 9th at 6:00pm just before the Board of Alderman meeting and will be handling some interesting items on the environmental front of Somerville...

· 190218: Discuss in Committee That this Board requests that the Administration investigate the availability of grant funding for electric car charging stations being offered by the state.

· 190343: Recommend Requesting approval of a Resolution that the Office of Sustainability and Environment work with the Mayor’s Office to convene a Public Somerville Climate Summit.

· 190907: Discuss in Committee That the Commissioner of Public Works make inquires on the purchase or lease of a snow melting machine and report back to the chair of Environment and Energy with cost projections.

· 191053: Discuss in Committee That the Environmental Programs Manager inform this Board of the city’s efforts to use green cleaning products in all buildings and advise on whether an ordinance requiring this is warranted.

· 192235: Discuss in Committee That the Commissioner of Public Works advise this Board of the timeline for delivering single stream recycling totes to medium to large condo buildings.

The committee is chaired by Ward 6 Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz and includes Maryann M. Heuston, Vice chair and Sean T. O’Donovan, Ward Five Alderman as committee members.
