The shooting happened in front of the same house that has had problem tenants for decades. As someone who lives in that area, that house has consistently been a thorn in the side of neighbors, with repeated code violations, and housing drug dealers and thugs.
The area itself is quite safe - and I cannot imaging this shooting was a random drive-by. The city ought to shut the house down for repeated code violations and fine the owner for as much as they can. It makes an otherwise wonderful neighborhood feel and look unsafe.
Some of the houses near that corner have elaborate displays of Christmas lights in December, and are on the annual Illuminations Tour. Is the 'problem house' one of those?
@Ron Newman - those Illuminations Tour houses you mention are not any of the problem houses in question. These are good families.
There are several houses the in the area that are owned by absentee landlords and occupied by families/generations of losers. The apples don't fall too far from these trees.
