Twitter had some good news regarding the city's budget which was presented to the Board of Aldermen at their Special Meeting last night. Somerville Patch and the Somerville Journal both report that the FY2013 budget features no gap and will require no layoffs. In fact, the budget does have increases for certain departments.
During recent ResiStat meetings, there was a $3 Million gap, however, the Mayor informed attendees that the budget presentation was made up of Departments' "ideal" requests and that some cuts would be made before it would be presented to the Board of Aldermen.
Budget conversations are scheduled for each department, before the Board of Aldermen, all the way up until late June.
