The Word Around The Ward

Cool news from our friends down at Eat at Jumbo's. They twittered on Tuesday that they will be filming a new segment with the Phantom Gourmet which will highlight their Garlic Knots! Viewing details will be shared once I get them.

Both the Alderman and School Committeeman pages now feature a new layout and increased press links and other information. They will continue to be built up in preparation for election season 2013. Do you have ideas on what can be included? Email me!

Speaking of elections, voting day is one week away on Thursday September 6th. Be sure to get out and rock the vote!

Magoun Square is the place to be the weekend of September 15th & 16th as three awesome events are taking over:
  • Olde Magoun's Saloon will be hosting a Paulaner Biergarten in back portion of the CVS parking lot from 12-6pm. check out the right side of the website (underneath the translator) for a great video on the Paulaner Truck that will be visiting Olde Magoun's Saloon on the 15th.
  • While this is happening, the first annual Corn Toss Tournament hosted by The Pub and benefiting the Ryan Harrington Foundation will be taking place at Trum Field starting at 9am.
  • On the 16th, Trum goes to the pups as the 3rd Annual Somerville Dog Festival, a.k.a DogFest 2012 kicks off at 10am and wrapping up at 3pm.
More information on all these events will be posted in the coming week.

Tonight is the last Somerville MovieFest (Dispicable Me) showing at Seven Hills Park in Davis Square. The movie starts at dusk and is family friendly!

There will be a public hearing through the Committee on Housing and Community Development regarding the Union Square Revitalization on September 19th at 6pm in the Aldermanic Chambers of City Hall. Please see the documents page of the website for a copy of the document detailing the proposal.

This week marks the third power outtage in Ward 5 with Tuesday being the most recent. Please be sure to call 311 and formally complain, so a record can be made.
