Committee on Public Health & Public Safety Set to Wrap-Up Ward 5 Issues...

The Committee on Public Health and Public Safety is meeting on Monday September 24th and among the lengthy agenda set for that night are numerous Ward 5 issues that were discussed throughout the year.

Issues including the fire at 155 Central Street, off-leash dogs on the Community Path, and a requested walk through of Magoun Square by the community police officer between the hours of 8pm and 11pm join rodent conversations and derelict properties. The agenda has been posted and the meeting is set for 6:30pm.

"Word around the ward" should capture what is going on, ongoing, with the Armory issue, and their request for EXTENDED HOURS, increased OCCUPANCY AT EVENTS by over one hundred persons, and a FULL LIQUOR LICENSE...needless to say, impacting the residential abutters neighborhood at late hours of the night and early morning hours.

Whatever revenue money problems they are crying about in seeking the above, they have brought upon themselves by going in there in the first place. Not a good business decision considering the location.

It appears their legal advocate, Mr.Adam Dash Esquire is counting on an in favor petition signed by, at last count, over 500 people.
But, many who signed gave their address as coming from other Massachusetts cities and towns; and indeed, from out of state.
Which, by the way, he was to get 1,000 signatures.

The only signatures that should count are from those impacted residents that abut the building and/or neighborhood.

Ooops, the above post was mistakenly entered under the wrong item by the author; it was intended to be entered under "Word around the ward" (below)!

Sorry for the error!

Thank you for your comment,

The issues surrounding the Armory has been published in previous Word Around the Wards, as well as, individual postings.

I knew the ZBA would not decide on the requests at the early September meeting, but it will be covered when they do issue a ruling.
