Discussion on Union Square Revitalization Continues Tonight...

The Committee on Housing and Community Development will be hosting another meeting tonight discussing the Union Square Revitalization plan submitted by Mayor Curtatone and the Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development. The plan separates parts of Union Square into 7 parcels that, if approved, will be subject to purchase by the Redevelopment Authority through eminent domain. It is the goal of the plan that the purchasing of future parcels (D1, D3-D7) will be funded through the selling of sections around a Green Line station (D2 according to the plan) to private developers. Before the Board of Aldermen right now is a request to approve the plan, as well as, a bond to purchase D2. The meeting is set for 6pm and will be held in the Aldermanic Chambers of City Hall.
