MIT Students Host Final Winter Hill/Magoun Square Meeting

On October 23rd, a presentation by students of the MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning was made showcasing preliminary studies and recommendations to improve the economic conditions of the Winter Hill and Magoun Square business districts with a focus on pedestrian-friendliness and zoning changes.

The students have been studying these two areas since the week after Labor Day, compiling data and researching areas that warranted special attention. Magoun Square was noted as one of these areas as it has 7 vacant storefronts and a parking supply and demand mismatch.

After their initial presentation, which suggested more green space and pedestrian-friendlier streets in these two business districts, a question and answer period took place and the students have put together their final recommendations to be revealed on Thursday December 6th at the Winter Hill Community School (115 Sycamore Street) with a 6:30pm start time.
