The Word Around The Ward

I certainly sympathize with Ward 2 Alderman Maryanne Heuston regarding her dismay over Burger King not shoveling in front of their location, but I can't say that I experience it. During this storm, I only observed one storefront in Magoun Square not shovel in front of their door which is expected as it's only used as a storage space for the property owner.

The Modelo Butcher Market is coming along nicely with new awnings and signage that is making Magoun Square's newest establishment look welcoming and ready for business.

The Alterations Shop in Magoun is now offering dry cleaning service...So convenient!

Candidate for Ward 5 Alderman Mark Niedergang is hosting his official kick-off at the Armory on March 3rd from 4-6pm. Invitations went out this week and his website is also featuring all the details.

Rumors are still swirling that we may see a Capuano/Curtatone team on the ballot for Governor. What are your thoughts? The conversation continues as we enter the Spring season!

Somerville Commissions are now on Facebook! Be sure to 'like' the new page and keep up with events sponsored by the different commissions.

Continuing Spencer's fame...he wanted everyone to know that Raul over at the K2 Beer and Wine store is open to stocking resident faves. Stop by and let him know what you like!

Individuals interested in purchasing a YUM Restaurant Card or tickets to the 2013 YUM: A Taste of Immigrant City celebration can do so by visiting www.yumsomerville.org. Cards will also be available at the Winter Farmers’ Market at the Armory on February 23 and March 9.

Be on the lookout for a new feature here on Ward 5 Online titled, "Comment the Caption!" Tomorrow's image was taken at the 2012 Inauguration and is of two popular Somerville pols. Take a look at the picture and comment what you think the caption should be.

A Capuano Curtatone team?? Who the heck are you talking to? If either of them run for governor, the dumbest thing they could do is pick a running mate with from the same city and the same background.
