The Word Around the Ward

There are reports of a break-in on Princeton Street and an attempted break-in on Wilton. I'm still trying to gather all the information I can while police reports are being compiled. What I can do is remind everyone to make sure that all windows, doors, sheds, and cars are locked at all times and that valuables are not visible. Also, please keep an eye out for suspicious activity and contact the Police, 311 and Alderman O'Donovan with information.

Big thanks to the Somerville News and the Somerville Journal who published my latest Op-Ed on Magoun Square this past Tuesday. An equally big thanks to all who commented on it and are excited about Magoun's success so far. There have been a group of us working diligently for the past four years on its improvement and we will continue to do so until residents, businesses and patrons are completely satisfied.

I stopped by K2 Beer and Wine recently and noticed a participant of their recent wine tasting back in the store buying a bottle of wine. This is such a sign of success for the owners of K2 and Kimberly Brusseau who poured and taught that night. I also noticed a selection of locally brewed beers in the cooler, as well. How great is it that you can have a Slumbrew at Daddy Jones Bar or a Pretty Things at Olde Magoun's Saloon and then walk down the street and buy some to take home? Welcome to Magoun Square!

Rumors are flying that a third person may be entering the Ward 5 Alderman and School Committee races this year. No definite confirmation yet and there is still plenty of time to put a campaign together. Hear something? Keep everyone updated through our ongoing conversation.

A pet adoption event will be held at Maxwells Green on Saturday from 1-4pm in the Maxwells Green Club Suite. Need a furry, four-legged friend? This is your chance to get one!

A meet and greet of Magoun Square United Listserv members is something I have been thinking about lately. Are you interested? Email me through the Google Group and let me know! It would be great to meet one another and put faces with names.
