The Word Around the Ward

I have updated our ongoing elections conversation with the latest information on who is running, for what and why. Please continue to include your thoughts and comments!

Looks like one of Magoun Square's newest businesses, King of Wings, will be opening in about a week. This is the latest in a string of businesses that have given this area a shot, including, a new hairdresser, beer and wine store, and alterations/dry cleaner.

I got an email from the developer of 181 Cedar Street that he's looking to start on the project in April. Hopefully, the weather cooperates for this, as well as, the other development happening on Alpine/Cedar Street.

Hi,Courtney,

Is 181 Cedar the location where they recently demolished the garages/sheds? What's developer going to be building?

Or is 181 the old Royal White site?

It is the old Royal White location.

143-145 Cedar is the address for the Cedar/Alpine 10 unit condos.

However, last I heard (and saw via a realitors "for sale" sign on that property) the original intended developer----Peter DuPuis, the owner of Faulkner Oil Company---in conjuction with someone with $$$$ from the U.A.E., a country in the Middle East; after they got their Somerville "permit" to build, decided to flip the land for 1.2 million dollars.
The realtor is also a DuPuis out of Winchester.
In the meantime the old buildings on that site have been demol'd.

By the way Peter DuPuis was the son-in-law of the original owner of Faulkner Oil, Burton Faukner Sr. Peter's wife, Nancy Faukner, unfortunately, died much too young.

If anything changed regard the 143-145 Cedar site I haven't heard.
