The Word Around the Ward

Could Magoun Square be welcoming another business? The word around the ward is that the storefront next to King of Wings has been leased, but no business type has been revealed.

Originally, this whole building was going to be the home of K2 Beer and Wine until the owner backed out at the last minute. K2 has now found a permanent home at 500 Medford Street and is doing a great job with their weekly wine tastings.

Speaking of K2 Beer and Wine, their website is currently under construction, but you can find them on Facebook! Raul and team have been busy stocking the shelves and taking suggestions from customers.

These suggestions have also led to a slight change in the time of their weekly wine tastings. The popular Friday event will now run from 6-8pm at their 500 Medford Street location. A beer tasting is also on the horizon, but has not been scheduled yet.

The construction of the buildings at Maxwells Green have been completed according to Callahan, Inc, the company hired to build them. Although not all the items agreed upon by the developers in the covenant with the city have been completed, it is certainly a milestone in the process that has lasted almost a decade. Signage, Community Path Extension-related items, and traffic calming measures still remain to be completed.

Somerville Local First will be hosting another Local is For Lovers market at the Arts at the Armory (191 Highland Avenue) on April 14th from 11am-5pm.

The market will feature 35 local vendors, live music and activities for kids provided by Knucklebones! This is a great opportunity for everyone to shift their shopping this Spring.
