Public Utilities and Public Works Set to Meet on Thursday

The Public Utilities and Public Works Committee, chaired by me and including Ward 1 Alderman Maureen Bastardi and Ward 3 Alderman Tom Taylor, will be meeting at 6pm on Thursday August 22nd just before the Board of Aldermen meeting.

The meeting agenda has been posted on the City's meeting portal, features 10 items, and will be taking place in the second floor committee room of City Hall.

The agenda items are as follows:

· 193754: Discuss in Committee That the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer appear at the September 19, 2012 meeting of the Public Utilities and Works Committee to report on Cedar Street sewer and drainage issues.

· 193966: Discuss in Committee That the City Clerk request that the State Delegation contact the MBTA to remove all graffiti from the retaining wall between the railroad tracks and the Lowell Street bridge.

· 194057: Discuss in Committee That this Board requests that the Administration, the Director of Traffic and Parking and the Commissioner of Public Works work with the ESCS contractor to coordinate the installation of raised crosswalks around the school.

· 194351: Discuss in Committee That the Commissioner of Public Works place Beacon Terrace on the 2013 re-paving list.

· 194393: Discuss in Committee That the Commissioner of Public Works, the City Arborist and the Director of SPCD (Transportation and Infrastructure) evaluate the tree at 191 Cedar Street for safety issues.

· 194792: Discuss in Committee That the Commissioner of Public Works address the raised sidewalk panel at 31 Adrian Street.

· 194972: Discuss in Committee That the Commissioner of Public Works update the Ward 6 Alderman on the new street cleaning and trash barrel maintenance for Davis Square, and evaluate whether more barrels would improve conditions.

· 195032: Discuss in Committee That the Commissioner of Public Works update the Ward 2 and 3 Aldermen on street cleaning and trash barrel maintenance for Union Square, and whether more barrels would improve conditions.

· 195088: Discuss in Committee That the Commissioner of Public Works report to this Board all of the trees taken down this calendar year that have fallen under the category of imminent risk to public safety, as well as a list of all the hearings that have occurred in advance of public shade tree removal.

· 195148: Discuss in Committee DPW Commissioner responding to various Board Orders from this meeting.
