Smoke Testing to Resume Tomorrow

I have just received word that due to inclement weather, planned sewer work in your area for Friday, August 9th has been rescheduled for Thursday, August 15th. I apologize for the short notice, however, I just received this today. Very few (only 3) houses in Ward 5 will be impacted. This will be broadcasted on a CTY call today, as well.

Tomorrow, City contractors will be conducting a study of the sanitary and storm sewer systems which will include smoke testing and dye water testing that will help to identify any existing issues within the system. Dye used in this test will exit the system via outfalls and is non-toxic.

The smoke you may see coming from the vent stacks and roof leaders on houses or from the ground is ODORLESS, NON-TOXIC, NON-STAINING, is white to gray in color, and creates no fire hazard. The smoke should not enter your home unless you have defective plumbing or drain pipes. If you do notice smoke in your home or business, please notify work crews immediately, or call Laurie Perkins at 978-416-8000.
