The Word Around the Ward

Olde Magoun’s Saloon is bringing back the Paulaner Oktoberfest Biergarten, this time, making it a 2-day event on Saturday October 5th and Sunday October 6th from 12-6pm! Paulaner is bringing an 18-wheeler truck outfitted with functioning taps and filled with each beer they produce including Oktoberfest Marzen, Oktoberfest Weisn, Pilsner, Lager, Hefeweizen, Salvatore Doppel Bock. They'll have a tent, biergarten picnic tables, music and authentic Oktoberfest food to go along with all the great beer. This is going to be the Oktoberfest event of the year you don’t want to miss!

A second meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday October 9th at 6pm to discuss a proposal to put 6 residential units at the Walnut Hill Auto Body location (235 Lowell Street). All are encouraged to attend the meeting that will take place on-site.

Penny Packers will be making their debut on Saturday October 5th from 11am to 7pm at their brand-new 514 Medford Street location in Magoun Square. Do stop by and welcome them to the neighborhood!

Speaking of October 5th, that marks one month until the final election! Be prepared for endless doorknocking, emails, phone calls and canvassing invitations as candidates across the city vie for coveted seats on the School Committee and Board of Aldermen.

The clock is ticking and we have yet to hear a formal announcement from Mayor Joe Curtatone as to whether or not he will run for Governor. Congressman Mike Capuano recently announced that he is happy where he is and will not be running for the seat. Tick tock...tick tock...
