Jingle Bell Run Set for Sunday December 22nd
On Sunday, Dec. 22 beginning at 9 a.m., City officials will detour vehicles in and around the Davis Sq. area to accommodate the running of the Jingle Bell road race.
Major roadways including Holland Street, Powerhouse Blvd, Broadway (in the Ball Square corridor) Cedar St and Highland Ave. between Cedar St and Davis Sq will be closed temporarily as runners pass, beginning at 11 a.m. and lasting until approximately 1 p.m.
Secondary roads in these areas may also be closed to traffic for a brief time to allow runners to pass. The Davis Sq area will be closed to all traffic from 9 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m.
Buses traveling to Davis Square from College Ave will be rerouted onto Dover Street, and from Holland Street onto Cameron Ave. Buses along the rest of the race route may be delayed for a short period of time. Police and MBTA officials will be stationed throughout these areas to direct traffic and provide detour information.
These races, coordinated by BA Events, bring over $1 Million in revenue to area restaurants and fund various donations to the City of Somerville.
