Somerville Mobile Farmer's Market Funded!

Ask and you shall receive...$3240 worth!

Clearly, residents of the City of Somerville care about the City's Mobile Farmer's Market and they weren't afraid to put their money where their mouths are!

To the tune of $3240 and with over a month until the investment opportunity expired, donors ensured that this program would proceed in bringing additional food for families throughout the winter and summer of 2014.

The City wrote, "In 2013, we spent over $5,000 in matching funds to meet customer demands for the incentive. We are thrilled to have served so many community members, and we are asking for your support to ensure that we can continue to do so. People struggling to access food every day have embraced the market and come to rely and depend on us. We, in turn, hope we can depend on you. Your gift will help us continue to work with our neighbors to meet the challenges of food insecurity."

The City had set a goal of $3,000, but caring residents and friends went beyond that point to provide a weekly market at two public housing developments and a senior activity center, according to the website launched to raise the funds. There was also a Facebook page setup, as well.
