The Word Around the Ward

A huge Happy Birthday goes out to Ward 5er Lee Anderson this week! Lee is a Magoun Square resident who can be seen hanging out with Ace Thunder Buddy around the neighborhood and submitting in great photos of Ace to Ward 5 Online.

Elections are over and I’m already hearing about people positioning themselves for 2015! Could Mayor Curtatone have an opponent for the first time in years? Could we see another two At-Large candidates? Only time will tell, but I hear that watching the Board of Aldermen meetings in 2014 should shed some light on who’s who.

Spotted in Magoun Square were many elected officials attending a fundraiser for Somerville resident, Michael Terrio, who is leaving for Pittsburgh to undergo a double lung transplant. Held at On the Hill Tavern, a great turnout raised some funds for Michael to make the journey with a required travel companion and offset medical expenses. A Go Fund Me page has also been launched for those who would like to donate online.

Vernon Street Open Studios are this weekend from 12:00-6:00pm at 6 & 20 Vernon Street. Do stop by and check out the work of these amazing artists.

The MBTA will be piloting late night service next Spring on trolleys, subways and 15 key bus routes. The program will have these services running until 3am on the weekends and was just announced this week!

The Somerville Winter Farmer's Market kicks off on Saturday (12/7) at 9:30am ending at 2pm and will run until March. See the official Facebook Page for vendor information.
