The Finance Committee will be hosting a Public Hearing regarding the increase in residential and commercial property valuations and real estate taxes on February 4th at 6:00pm in the Aldermanic Chambers of City Hall. This will be a meeting of the whole which allows all members of the Board of Aldermen to attend, comment and vote.
The agenda also includes a discussion on Legislative Item Number 196116: requesting that the Chief Assessor and the Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development appear before this Board’s Finance Committee to discuss the increase in commercial property valuations and real estate taxes, especially for restaurants, and its impact on existing businesses and future community development in the City of Somerville; AND BE IT FURTHER Ordered, that the discussion include the increase and impact to residential properties.
Due to the inclusion of Legislative Number 196146 on the agenda, the Chief Assessor will appear before this Board of Aldermen to answer questions about tax bills.
