It is the end of an era for Piro Printing as it bid Magoun Square farewell for a joint space in Charlestown according to a sign placed in the window.
Piro Printing was every politician's first stop when setting up their campaign literature and choosing colors for yard signs, lapel and bumper stickers-including mine.
As of late, the company has been doing most work in Charlestown with another shop (AB Printing) as business has been negatively impacted by cheaper printing companies and DIY equipment and materials that people can set up in their home office.
No word yet on what will happen to the physical property on Medford Street.

Truly the end of an era. I bet having very little election business had a big impact too.
I would love to know what will happen to the shop. It would be cool if they auctioned off some of the equipment.

I had the originator of Piro printing, Mr. Piro himself, as a printing instructor at the Old Western Junior High School (now the TAB building on Holland Street) back in 1945.
His sons, Peter. Guy, who years later would take over the business, were one or two grades ahead of me at the old Bingham Grammar School on lowell Street.
That school later condemned due to a crack in the foundation; demolished and the site now a multi-apartment housing.
At that time, and for many years after, the citizens in that neighborhood and thruout the city,
thought that school never should of been condemed and suspected a "little hanky-panky" by all involved. $$$$$$$?????
