The Word Around The Ward

Big Happy Birthdays go out to Ward 5 residents, Chris Meiman and Jonas Kahn, who are celebrating this week!

Too bad Boston.Com/YourTown couldn't get control of their technical issues. I requested this week that they remove Ward 5 Online from the feed as the links they provided through the website and corresponding Twitter account were always broken. Check here, the Facebook page and Twitter account for the latest Ward 5 Online headlines.

A recent SNN production on Magoun Square sparked some emotion from viewers, leading to a comment thread on Somerville Patch that's worth reading. I have already submitted my thoughts to the producer via email, but feel free to comment here or there with yours.

Thanks to everyone who read my coverage of the Green Spaces, Community Places meeting at WSNS last week. The moderators of the meeting have posted the PowerPoint that was presented which features some really great data on these unique spaces in Somerville. Enjoy!

Alderman At Large Mary Jo Rossetti mentioned 15-minute parking spot abuse, citing a location in Ward 5. This is completely unfair to surrounding businesses and I commend the new member of the Board for taking this on. Traffic Committee meeting details will be posted as they become available.

Big thanks to the folks at 311 for their responsiveness on Twitter! I noticed a couple of sign-related  issues in the Ward and they quickly noted them for repair within a few minutes. Check out Ward 5 Online's Twitter handle, @Ward5Online, to see how much I aggravate them ;)

The report on Magoun Square was one-sided and completely wrong. I have lost a lot of respect for this new show on SCAT and wish they would do better research on their topics and who they choose to include in their broadcasts.
