The Word Around the Ward
Craig Rourke, a local attorney, Taylor Barnard, a Senior at Tufts University and Christine Barber, Executive Board Member of the Progressive Democrats of Somerville, have pulled nomination papers for for the 34th Middlesex District seat in the state House of Representatives formally held by Carl Sciortino. Tomorrow will mark Sciortino's last day as he moves on to head up the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts. Sciortino made the announcement on March 25th. This are the newest names in a list that also rumors Joe Capuano, Keri Lorenzo and Mary Jo Rossetti to be considering a run. This should be a very interesting race to watch.
Hubway Bicycle Stations were activated yesterday and mark the beginning of another awesome season for the bike sharing company. Of course, I am very excited that a new station near Magoun Square at Trum Field was installed and would love users to send in pictures and comments for posting here on Ward 5 Online.
Daddy Jones Bar will be hosting a dinner party with Pennypackers, Angel's Envy Whiskey and Harpoon Brewery. Seatings are at 6:00pm and 9:30pm. Be sure to get tickets before they sell out!
Friday and Saturday late night MBTA service started last week. Be sure to check out which services are included before you make your late night plans.
