It's Fireworks Time, Yo


On Thursday, July 3, live entertainment for our Independence Day celebration at Trum Field will include performances by the Somerville Sunsetters, local Disco-Funk band Booty Vortex, the USO Metropolitan New York Performers, and the U.S. Navy Band Northeast Pops Ensemble beginning at 6 p.m., all leading up to a 30-minute fireworks display at approximately 9:15 p.m. (In case of rain, the USO Metropolitan New York Performers and the U.S. Navy Band Northeast Pops Ensemble will perform at the East Somerville Community School at 7 p.m. on July 3. All other entertainment will be postponed until July 10.)

To ensure public safety and pedestrian access to events, traffic and parking restrictions will be in place as follows:

Broadway
No Parking at Trum Field from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Ball Square to Magoun Square: No Parking 4 p.m. – midnight; street closed 5 p.m. – midnight.
Cedar Street
Morrison Avenue to the Bridge: No Parking 8 a.m. – midnight; traffic restricted to residents only 4 – 6 p.m.; street closed after 6 p.m.
Bridge to Broadway: No Parking 8 a.m. – midnight; traffic restricted to residents only 4 - 6 p.m. (from Morrison Ave. only); street closed 6 p.m. – midnight.
Franey Road: No Parking 4 p.m. – midnight; street closed 4 p.m. - midnight.
Charles E. Ryan Road: No parking 8 a.m. – midnight; access restricted to residents 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.; street closed 6 p.m. - midnight.
MBTA Buses 80 & 89 rerouted 5 p.m. – midnight. See www.somervillema.gov or call 311 for full detour information.

Due to the large crowds and loud noise associated with the Fireworks Celebration, the City recommends that attendees leave pets at home and not bring unnecessary bags or backpacks. All bags and backpacks are subject to inspection. For more information, please call 311 (or 617-666-3311).
