The Word Around The Ward

Tonight is the annual Independence Day kick-off at Trum Field featuring music, vendors and a 30-minute fireworks display. Please check out the details here and, remember, that bags are subject to inspection and please leave all dogs at home.

BaconPalooza is back at Olde Magoun's Saloon. Carry on.

There's an empty storefront in Magoun Square that is becoming quite the hot commodity. Formally a hair salon, 515 Medford Street has been vacant for a few weeks, but the owner has received 30 phone calls from potential tenants that include artists and a dentist. Umberto, the owner, has made it clear that he does not want a food establishment and that he wants something that will compliment the Square. It will be interesting to see who wins the lease!

Happy Birthday to Ward 5er Dawn Sicari!

It is the 4th of July weekend and that means vacation time for some Ward 5 businesses. Closed until next week are MF Dulock and Eat at Jumbos. Plan accordingly ;)

Confirmation was made on Monday night that the block of Broadway storefronts from Woody's Liquors to On the Hill Tavern, as well as, the house behind On the Hill have sold to one buyer for $10 Million. No word yet on the buyer or their intentions.

Me here at Ward 5 Online would like to wish a Happy Independence Day to all of my readers! I hope you have a great long weekend!
