Tuesday's Board of Aldermen Agenda Includes Mayor's Veto of "Pay to Play" Ordinance

Tuesday's Board of Aldermen agenda has been posted on the City's meeting portal and, as promised by Mayor Joe Curtatone, item number 24 (ID #10286) is his veto of the "Pay to Play" ordinance some members of the Board have been tirelessly pushing since last year. The Mayor vetoed the ordinance on September 16th according to the attachment included on the meeting portal.

In a provided statement to the Board of Aldermen on September 11th, Curtatone writes that the legislation is "well-intentioned," but "flawed" and that, if passed, he would veto it. The Board would go on to pass the legislation 7-4 and Curtatone's promised veto comes in the form of a Communication included on Tuesday's agenda. The Board of Aldermen needs 8 votes to override the Mayor's veto.

The Board of Aldermen will meet on Tuesday night at 7:00 PM in the Aldermanic Chambers of City Hall.

I believe wholeheartedly that there should be an ordinance of this kind in the city-it is very clear that members of the board are targeting the mayor. That leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
