The Davis Flea: an Open-air Market Lands in the
Heart of Davis Square
Currently,
Davis Square is already known for its many unique retail stores and
restaurants. There will be a new entertainment and retail attraction in Davis
Square called The Davis Flea.
Rather
than focusing on selling new products and crafts, The Davis Flea will focus on the concept of “ reclaim, repurpose” that
of which we already have. Dealers will be selling vintage, repurposed and
antique merchandise, which will be tightly scrutinized or curated by The Davis Flea. Some of the merchandise
will capitalize on the current trend of mid-century vintage items popularized
on the TV show, Mad Men. This market will
be an exciting new addition to the already eclectic and diverse Davis Square
environment.
The latter part of The Davis Flea’s motto is: “rediscover, reconnect” and The Davis
Flea will be a source of entertainment for the community and an opportunity for
people to gather and reconnect while drawing people from other communities as
well.
The Davis Flea will boost the
surrounding businesses with an increase in added foot traffic. The local
businesses will be involved in a cross promotion campaign of this community
event.
In an effort strengthen the community
even further, The Davis Flea will
provide booth space within the flea market for community organizations, local
farmers and non-profits.
The Davis Flea
is co-managed by partners Greg Ghazil, Jennifer Kniff and Maureen Nuccitelli.
All three partners have roots tied to Davis Square and a mission to make The Davis Flea the hot event of the
week during the ongoing season.
